However, almost a year ago, it would appear that was indeed the case. My clothes dryer was not properly drying our clothes, as they were coming out hot but still damp; even the towels were coming out hot. At one point, the dryer itself became too hot to touch.
It was when I consulted a dryer vent cleaning professional that I found out the startling truth.
The way a dryer works is the wet clothes are placed inside the drum and then dried using forced hot air through the turning drum. Lint is then created from the small fibers from the clothes or debris, heated, then separated from the clothes. The lint builds up on the lint catcher, but sometimes can sneak through the catcher to build up inside the dryer vent.
If left unchecked, the lint builds up inside the dryer vent over the course of months, causing a narrower airway in the vent for the hot air to escape. This is what was causing the overheating and the damp clothes in the dryer.
The lint buildup is so thick at times that simply running a vacuum hose along the vent opening is not going to get any of it. When lint builds up along the vent walls, it can become so dense and thick that it cannot be pried loose using simple house vacuums alone. Dryer vent cleaners use a special wand that can pry the lint loose, making it easier to clean up.
I discovered recently that there are many advantages to having your dryer vents cleaned at least once a year, as per recommended by professional dryer vent cleaners. Among them are the savings you will receive; not only in energy but in repair bills, as well. The excess lint buildup and blockage causes the air flow to become increasingly difficult, causing your energy bill to go up, as you put your clothes through multiple drying cycles. Additionally, continuous drying cycles can put a lot of wear and tear on your dryer, as I learned the hard way.
Plus, according to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, more than 15,000 house fires are caused by dryer vents annually. The hot air continuously hitting the lint buildup inside the tight dryer vent space is considered a major fire hazard by many professional firefighters.
There are so many advantages to calling a professional dryer vent cleaner that I can’t think of a single good reason why not. Do as I did and call them today. via WordPress http://ift.tt/1JRoJtQ
